OUAA Legacy Award

In the Fall of 2014, the Oakland University Alumni Association (OUAA) Scholarship Program began offering renewable Legacy Awards for incoming freshmen and renewable Legacy Transfer Awards for transfer students. Legacy Awards are $12,000 over four years ($3,000 per year) and Legacy Transfer Awards are $6,000 over two years ($3,000 per year).

The OUAA will continue to offer up to two Returning Alumni Awards, as well as one Frances C. Amos School of Business Administration Alumni Affiliate Award and one Thomas A. Yatooma School of Engineering and Computer Science Alumni Memorial Award. Each of these awards are $3,000, non-renewable.

To date, the OUAA has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to qualified OU students. The money for these scholarships is provided through generous donations and revenue earned from OUAA events and programs.

Who Can Apply for OUAA Scholarships

Each award offered through the OUAA has unique eligibility criteria.

Legacy students, defined as individuals whose parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt or uncle received a degree or academic certificate from OU, may be eligible to apply for the OUAA's Legacy Award or Legacy Transfer Award.

Current OU upperclassmen in either the School of Business Administration or the School of Engineering and Computer Science may be eligible to apply for the Frances C. Amos School of Business Administration Alumni Affiliate Award or the Thomas A. Yatooma School of Engineering and Computer Science Alumni Memorial Award. Legacy status is not required to be eligible for these awards.

Alumni returning to OU to complete a graduate degree may be eligible for the Returning Alumni Award.

Please see the specific eligibility criteria for each award, as well as deadlines for application materials, by clicking the Scholarships tab above.

Previous OUAA scholarship recipients are ineligible to apply again. OUAA scholarships are merit-based, not need-based, and are intended to cover "cost of attendance". Recipients are selected by an alumni committee. Students must be admitted to OU at the time of selection.
