About the Association

The OUAA connects alumni and friends with the university community. Membership in the alumni association is available to all OU
graduates and those who have received academic certification from OU.  Through the Alumni Association, alumni maintain an active role in programs that support OU and build relationships that benefit both students and the university.

Did you know...
With the fall class of 2010, OU has more than 84,500 alumni who live in every state in the United States and in many countries around the world. See the OU Alumni Map for a state-by-state view.

How the OUAA benefits the university:
  • OUAA activities and its person-to-person network help build relationships that benefit alumni and friends and renew commitment to the university and its students.

  • OUAA members enjoy friendships with associates who share a common bond and who offer their personal, professional and/or financial resources to students and the university.

  • As university ambassadors, OUAA members act as liaisons between the university and community. Alumni leaders also maintain an active role in programs that attract interest in and support for OU.

  • OUAA members continue to be an essential part of the OU community as major contributors to the success of Oakland University.

OUAA Board
The 24-member OUAA Board of Directors governs the Alumni Association and is called upon by the university to give advice on matters relating to alumni. It specifically provides counsel and advice to the Alumni Relations Office, president of Oakland University, Division of Development, Alumni and Community Engagement and OU Board of Trustees.

OUAA Office
The OUAA Office is on the east side of campus in John Dodge House, the original home of John Dodge and Matilda Dodge Wilson. Matilda and her second husband, Alfred Wilson, saw a need for a university in Oakland County and donated $2 million and their 1,500-acre estate to establish what is now Oakland University.
